:) :) :) :) :)

"One day someone will walk into your life and make you realize why it never worked out with anyone else."
That day was exactly 70 days ago and that person is Zachary Wesley Johnson. The past 70 days have been the best days of my life thus far. I have spent every single one of them with this cute boy and I have never been happier!

Not quite what I had in mind....

This semester has not been what I had expected.
  • I was expecting to feel like the awkward fourth wheel roommate
  • I was expecting to be working two jobs
  • I was expecting to be great friends with my all of my friends from last year
  • I was expecting to have a calling
  • I was expecting to be single and loving all the boys in Logan
  • I was expecting to be working all alone at Excalibur
  • I was expecting to not miss my family this much
  • I was expecting to never see Susan and Mark
  • I was expecting to make oodles and oodles of new friends
  • I was expecting to be emotionally stable
  • I was expecting to have my mind
  • I was expecting to be preparing for a mission
  • I was expecting things to be pretty much the same
I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG

This is how my semester has been going instead.
  • I absolutely love my roommates and I fit right in with them
  • I quit Jamba Juice this week
  • I hardly ever see my friends from last year. The only times we really talk is when we run into each other on campus
  • I don't have a calling and I am not very involved in my ward
  • I have the greatest boyfriend in the world
  • Nicole decided to stay in Logan for another year
  • I miss my family more than I have  in a long time
  • I see Susan and Mark frequently
  • I have made hardly any new friends and I am okay with it
  • My anxiety has been pretty bad and I have legitimately no control of my emotions
  • I have lost my mind. Please let me know if you find it
  • I am not going on a mission anytime soon despite the fact I could start my papers tomorrow if I wanted
  • Basically everything is different
Nothing is how I expected it to be. And guess what? I am completely okay with it. I AM HAPPY. So happy. Zachary Wesley Johnson makes me happy. Spending time with his family makes me happy. Being in love makes me happy. My roommates make me happy. Excalibur, Jane, and Nicole make me happy. Only having one job makes me happy. Face timing my family makes me happy. Doubles dates with Nicole and Rick and Mark and Susan make me happy. The beautiful fall colors make me happy. Life makes me happy.

Just call me GRANOLA GIRL!!!

yurt: a tent like dwelling of the Mongol and Turkic peoples of central Asia, consisting of a cylindrical wall of poles in a lattice arrangement with a conical roof of poles, both covered by felt or skins.
Once upon a time I hiked four miles in the snow up Green Canyon to camp in a yurt. Now, for those of you that know me, you are probably shocked by the previous statement. You are probably thinking, "Kinsey hates nature! and dirt. and camping. Has she lost her mind?" Well folks I have some new for you. I NO LONGER HATE NATURE. I ACTUALLY QUITE ENJOY IT. I went into this yurt extravaganza with an open, positive mind. I decided that I wasn't going to say one negative thing about nature, or hiking the whole time we were on our trip. It's funny what a positive attitude can do for you, because I learned that I really do enjoy the wilderness. It really isn't all that bad. I actually liked it. A LOT. I liked hiking in the snow and enjoying how peaceful it was. I liked not having to brush my teeth or wash my face. I liked not caring about what hippie had previously drank out of my mug. I liked sleeping in a sleeping bag. I liked snowshoeing. I liked the snow. I liked the beautiful mountains. I liked the campfire smoke smell. I liked backpacking. and I liked staying in the yurt. I liked trying something with an open mind. I LOVED IT ALL.

love me, love me, say that you love me!

Valentine's day.
They day that boyfriends give flowers to their girlfriends.
This year I got a rose from a random boy on campus who was wearing a full body spandex suit.
The day that you go on a fancy romantic date with your valentine.
This year I went on a date with the best valentine EVER. Sarah Lyn Martin. To the Training Table and to the Lady Antebellum concert.
The day that I usually hate.
but this year LOVED.
Who needs a boyfriend to take you on a romantic Valentine's date when you could go to an AMAZING concert with your BEST friend and eat a giant hamburger and get it ALL OVER your face and it not be a big deal? Seriously. This Valentine's day was by far the best one yet. I made valentines for all my friends including  a few three feet by four feet cards. I got a package from my family. My parents game me money to go out to dinner. I saw all the people that I love on campus. Had a super awkward experience with my new friend Craig at Jiffy Lube. Roadtripped it to SLC with my BFF. Blasted love songs the whole way down and sang them at the top of our lungs. Stuffed my face at the Training Table. Experienced an UNREAL concert by Lady Antebellum. Got lost in Salt Lake. and made it back to Logan in one piece. I wish every day was valentines day.
My valentine and I at the Lady A concert!
Thanks Sarah for the best V day ever!!

Phew!!

I finally did it.
I made a big decision and I feel really good about it.
I am going to major in social work.
It's official.
I'll apply to the program next spring.
I want to counsel troubled youth.
I COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my back.
I finally have something to work towards!
and when people ask me what my major is, I can give them a straight forward answer instead of saying...
"I don't have a major, I'm still trying to decide what I want to do with my life."
Now I can say...
"I AM MAJORING IN SOCIAL WORK."
One major life decision down, ten thousand more to go.
