Just call me GRANOLA GIRL!!!

yurt: a tent like dwelling of the Mongol and Turkic peoples of central Asia, consisting of a cylindrical wall of poles in a lattice arrangement with a conical roof of poles, both covered by felt or skins.
Once upon a time I hiked four miles in the snow up Green Canyon to camp in a yurt. Now, for those of you that know me, you are probably shocked by the previous statement. You are probably thinking, "Kinsey hates nature! and dirt. and camping. Has she lost her mind?" Well folks I have some new for you. I NO LONGER HATE NATURE. I ACTUALLY QUITE ENJOY IT. I went into this yurt extravaganza with an open, positive mind. I decided that I wasn't going to say one negative thing about nature, or hiking the whole time we were on our trip. It's funny what a positive attitude can do for you, because I learned that I really do enjoy the wilderness. It really isn't all that bad. I actually liked it. A LOT. I liked hiking in the snow and enjoying how peaceful it was. I liked not having to brush my teeth or wash my face. I liked not caring about what hippie had previously drank out of my mug. I liked sleeping in a sleeping bag. I liked snowshoeing. I liked the snow. I liked the beautiful mountains. I liked the campfire smoke smell. I liked backpacking. and I liked staying in the yurt. I liked trying something with an open mind. I LOVED IT ALL.

love me, love me, say that you love me!

Valentine's day.
They day that boyfriends give flowers to their girlfriends.
This year I got a rose from a random boy on campus who was wearing a full body spandex suit.
The day that you go on a fancy romantic date with your valentine.
This year I went on a date with the best valentine EVER. Sarah Lyn Martin. To the Training Table and to the Lady Antebellum concert.
The day that I usually hate.
but this year LOVED.
Who needs a boyfriend to take you on a romantic Valentine's date when you could go to an AMAZING concert with your BEST friend and eat a giant hamburger and get it ALL OVER your face and it not be a big deal? Seriously. This Valentine's day was by far the best one yet. I made valentines for all my friends including  a few three feet by four feet cards. I got a package from my family. My parents game me money to go out to dinner. I saw all the people that I love on campus. Had a super awkward experience with my new friend Craig at Jiffy Lube. Roadtripped it to SLC with my BFF. Blasted love songs the whole way down and sang them at the top of our lungs. Stuffed my face at the Training Table. Experienced an UNREAL concert by Lady Antebellum. Got lost in Salt Lake. and made it back to Logan in one piece. I wish every day was valentines day.
My valentine and I at the Lady A concert!
Thanks Sarah for the best V day ever!!

Phew!!

I finally did it.
I made a big decision and I feel really good about it.
I am going to major in social work.
It's official.
I'll apply to the program next spring.
I want to counsel troubled youth.
I COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my back.
I finally have something to work towards!
and when people ask me what my major is, I can give them a straight forward answer instead of saying...
"I don't have a major, I'm still trying to decide what I want to do with my life."
Now I can say...
"I AM MAJORING IN SOCIAL WORK."
One major life decision down, ten thousand more to go.

THE luckiest

I am probably the luckiest girl I know. Actually I'm going to be as bold as to say I KNOW that I am the luckiest girl alive. You are probably wondering, "Why is Kinsey so lucky?". Well folks, these three pictures say it all.
These girls make me happy. They make me laugh. They make my life worth living. I could not be any luckier.

in the blink of an eye

Life changes so fast at my age. Your life can take a complete 360 degree turn from semester to semester. Your apartment changes, your roommates change, your classes change, your relationships change, your opinions change, your testimony changes, your major changes, and unfortunately sometimes your weight changes. It's hard not to compare your current life with the way that life was a couple months ago. It's hard not to miss the way things used to be. It's hard to think that the way life is now could be completely different in what feels like the blink of an eye.
